About your Council

The Council Chairman is, effectively, team leader for meetings. He relies heavily on the Parish Clerk for advice and administrative support. The Clerk also has to act as project manager, public relations officer, finance secretary and as secretary to every Councillor.  As such she is deemed ‘officer’ to the Council in law.

What is a Parish Council?

There are around 8,350 parish councils in England. Most were established in 1894, via an act of Parliament creating civil parishes separate from the older church Parishes. ( Although, recently, Churt Parish Council was established in 2003 by devolving itself from the original Frensham Parish Council ) . Frensham Parish Council now consists of Rushmoor and Frensham Wards, both of these wards opting to remain as one.

What are we?

As your Chairman my role is that of "team leader" for meetings whilst we also rely heavily on our Parish Clerk for advice and administrative support. The clerk also has to act as project manager, public relations officer, finance administrator and as "secretary" to every councillor. As such they are deemed to be "officers" to the council in law.

What is our purpose?

The Clerk and Councillors work as a team to provide a service for the community.

What we do!

The areas covered by the Council include planning, highways, traffic, community safety, low cost housing, street lighting, sports fields and pavilions, parish buildings, children’s playgrounds, litter collection, war memorials, street furniture and rights of way.
