Community Building
Update Nov 2007
A new Community Building and Shop
The plan below, for the development of Frensham’s garage site, is soon to be submitted to Waverley Borough Council jointly by the developer Arcadia and Frensham Parish Council. The plan includes the construction of nine ‘entry-level’ houses and a Community Building with shop below which the Council will then rent to the Village Shop Committee.
The proposed Community Building is very similar to the earlier plan, which has already been approved, but has the advantage of being within the village permitted building area, which avoids the need to alter Hollowdene children’s playground. The houses proposed for the garage site are small, two-bedroom terraced houses with small gardens.
They would most suit first time buyers, people without large families, or older people who are ‘down-sizing’ - a type of house which is in very short supply in this area. Prices will be modest in relation to average prices in Frensham and Rushmoor, and scope for extending limited, therefore preserving the ‘entry-level’ nature of the houses for years to come.
In short, the development will enhance the balance of our ‘sustainable community’. Frensham Parish Council intends to keep you informed at all stages of this project. Please help the Council to achieve success by giving us your active support.
Update September 07
The Parish Council is pleased to support Frensham’s temporary Village Shop, which will establish itself in a Portacabin in Hollowdene car park later this Autumn. Successful Fund raising by the Shop Committee has been a tangible confirmation of the perceived need for the shop by the people of Frensham, as well as supporters and customers from further afield. Utility services at Hollowdene will be connected as soon as the cricket season has finished and the Council is confident that in its portacabin the Shop will continue to play an important community role in the village.
